What is the Bhagavad Gita?

Bhagavad Gita Quotes By Krishna - BhagavadGita.io
What is the Bhagavad Gita? The Bhagavad Gita is part of the Mahabharata, which is the longest poem in the world with over 1,000 verses. The Bhagavad Gita consists of conversations between  Prince Arjuna and Bhagavan Krishna right before the Mahabharata war was about to begin. When Arjuna went to the center of the battlefield to see who he was fighting, all he saw were his own friends, family, and teachers. He immediately felt guilt and wanted to retire into the forest. This is when Krishna revealed the Bhagavad Gita. In the conversation, Krishna advises Arjuna about important ideas of Yoga, Dharma, and how to live a purposeful, happy, and prosperous life.

The Bhagavad Gita literally translates to "The divine song" or the "Song of the Lord." It begins when Arjuna starts sharing his doubts and concerns with Krishna. Many people ask "Why was the Bhagavad Gita told on the battlefield? Why not in a temple?" Well, it's because if the advice worked for someone going straight into war, it can help us to deal with situations in our daily life.
